At the end of the playoff series against the Phoenix Suns, that sent the Denver Nuggets to the 2023 Western Conference Finals, Nikola Jokic has a playoff total of 2.8 Win Shares and 0.325 Win Shares per 48 minutes played.
The list of players that reached the plateau of 2.5 WS and 0.32 WS48 is pretty small.
🏀 In 2009, Lebron James ended his Cavaliers postseason with a total of 4.8 WS and 0.399 WS48, the most impressive performance on the list, based on those numbers and regardless of team success.
🏀 In 1964, Wilt Chamberlain (3.8 WS - 0.323 WS48) led his San Francisco Warriors to the NBA Finals, where they lost against the Boston Celtics. Next season the NBA would widen the lane from 12 to 16 feet, trying to limit his all-time high usage.
🏀 The two players on the list that led their team to a championship are George Mikan (3,5 WS - 0.391 WS48) in 1954 and Michael Jordan in 1991 (4,8 WS - 0.333 WS48). The 1953-54 season was the last without a shot clock. The 1990-91 season started the Bulls dynasty of the 90s and it was the second season in which new coach Phil Jackson implemented Tex Winter's triangle offense. Let's just say that the system was indeed able to get MJ the ball when the Bulls needed him to have it.
🏀 In 1977 Kareem Abdul Jabbar (3.2 WS - 0.332) had maybe the best individual season of his career. It was also one of those seasons that a team that earned a top regular season seed, wasn't available at full strength in the playoffs. Kermit Washington wasn't the only injury headache that the Lakers had, but when he was available they won 3 close regular season games against the Blazers. After he got injured they lost a blowout game in the regular season and the playoff series between them in a 4 game sweep.
